Shorts seem real confident right now. And this is coming from someone who has been expecting a retest of the lows in the near future.

Be careful out there guys.

I know oil is way down. Marathon Oil is at 3.10, which is the lowest it has been all year. Thinking about getting into it today.

Sometimes there is a reason why things are cheap.

Logically you would think so. Which is why I am hesitant to make that call. Market is already expecting terrible unemployment numbers. The big drop today is partially due to people front running the unemployment numbers tomorrow.

The same thing was said last Wednesday and we saw what happened on Thursday. It could go either way just like always. However, I think the market is looking much farther ahead than tomorrow at this point.

I'm holding 3 stocks. The other handful that I had left, I sold on Monday.

I have cash ready to dump in just waiting. My wife's family just sold some apartments in California so I have a lot of cash that's wanting to burn a hole in my pocket.

But I do believe it's not time quite yet.

I think the big drop today is because there are no buyers...still.

Oil has been mostly flat the last 3 days. It was even posting a small gain for a while today, despite the market being down a lot.

At some point oil is due for a bear market rally, and that could be the catalyst for the next leg up in the market. Plus there is a lot of open short positions in the market right now(almost record levels), which will provide fuel for any rally.

However, It is very tempting to short now after a 20% rally and with the terrible macro outlook around the world.

We imported 6 million barrels last week. How big of a jump would oil get if Trump put a temporary ban on importing oil or reduced the amount?

Can he even do that?

I don’t have an answer for that. But if there is one area of the market over due for some type of “good news”, it’s oil.

And it will respond significantly and quickly.

Kind of what I am hoping for. I have a few short term plays I only intend to hold through May. Basically just thinking Trump steps in at some-point within the next month.

Saints5021 looks like the “good news” for oil we were talking about is here. Question is how long will this last.

I got out of VLO this morning right after they broke the news on CNBC. It may last and I may have sold too quickly, but I’m taking profits right now when I can get them.
