Buy the dips. The trade war is far from over, but Trump can’t afford to go into 2020 with a bad market. He’s mentioned it so many times now that he has no choice.

A lot of long-term growth indicators are projecting closer to a 4% annual return on the market moving forward as opposed to a 7% that is always quoted.

I’m not here to tell you we are gonna get 7% returns, but I am here to tell you that nobody knows what’s going to happen in the stock market next week, month, decade

Fair but realize that previous projections for returns use markets where the GDP was 3-4+% and interest rates decreased from 11 - 0%. There are some very fundamental differences in today's future outlook versus tomorrows.

If we go into another recession, we could see negative interest rates which will make cash an even more appealing investment.

Here is a blog post from someone smarter than me breaking down future equity returns outlook

You realize that "negative interest rates" means a depositor pays to have his money held, right? The purpose of negative interest rates is to encourage people to NOT hold cash in deposits.

Now if you mean "cash" as in possessing currency notes rather than depositing your money into a bank, then, okay. Negative interest rates will do that.

If we get to negative interest rates, I’m going balls deep in the market and then some.

I’m not sitting on a pile of cash that I have to pay to keep in a bank

re: So, who is buying?
I’m not buying equities, but as volatility has expanded (VIX up 26% today alone), I’ve been selling lots of premium - mostly call credit spreads, a few strangles and in select cases, naked puts. 25 delta max. Things are a little too crazy for my taste, so I’m sticking with weekly contracts, no more than a couple of weeks out.

I think we target the 200 Day MA from here at the very least. I think we will test the August lows at 2730s. From there I think we'll see a bounce back to 3000s. Kind of find it hard to really go 100% doomsday yet.

As we go into the second half of August, VXX puts might not be a bad idea.

Bought SVXY 20 min before close today. Let’s see how this plays out. Very short term trade. Will be watching futures before open tomorrow.

Premium selling in this high IV environment should be a good strategy

Good news is I bonus in a couple weeks so I might make a move on something then
