I was just hired to a new financial institution and have been going through the pre-start date procedure. I submitted my information for the background check which triggered me to go and look at my credit report because it had been a few months. Well when I looked at it on Credit Karma I had a small medical collection that was reported in March from a Dr appointment I had over a year ago. Long story short, I thought we paid it the night I was at the Dr, and then we moved just over a month later and they apparently had been sending bills to that address.

The collection is only 122 dollars and once I verified that it wasn't paid I called the collection company and made the payment over the phone.

My question is, will this have any effect on me getting hired? I've never had a single negative thing report to my credit history so this is bothering me quite a bit. I definitely feel as if I should call them (the company who offered me) tomorrow and let them know about it at least.

I doubt it.

Good luck!

Nah man. It should be removed within a few weeks to a month especially if you paid in full.

I have no idea.

But nobody should ever consider a debt paid until you've received a statement saying you have zero balance due.

Worst case is they'll ask you about it, and you explain what happened and that you already paid it.

Most employers are looking for charge-offs, court settlements, and other major red flags. Financial institutions can be a little more stringent though.

zero effect on your hire. And it is no big issue.

You probably paid the copay the night your went to see the doctor, and the $122 is the remaining balance after copay and insurance payment.
