I completely realize the human factor and all that, but you can not argue the fact that in all likelihood you will beat a fricking 3% mortgage by investing. It’s math.

Ok dumb question so please don’t blast me for asking this. If I max out my 401k, Roth IRA, and choose not to pay an extra 400-500 on the house per month, what should I invest that extra in?

Actually just the opposite is true.
Another consideration folks often overlook is diversification over all their investments, not just stock holdings. If paying off a home (a real estate investment) entails a significant underweight of non-realestate holdings, diversification is an issue.
