I am interested in opening my first brokerage account to plug extra funds each month - currently maxing out my 401k and Roth. My plan is to invest additional funds on a monthly basis and to hold long term as I am about 30 years from retirement. I have my 401k and Roth through Vanguard but am open to suggestions. Any recommendations on funds that I should check out? Thanks in advance for the responses.

Thanks for the recommendations. What are your thoughts on a total market mutual fund like VTSAX?

Consider not using mutual funds in an after tax account. Many throw off capital gains at the end of the year, which can result in unpleasant surprises. Look at ETFs. There are plenty of ETFs that offer what you are looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion, Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) looks like a good option based on what you are saying.
