Old 401k funds
Posted by Jblac15 on 2/12/19 at 9:22 am00
I've got roughly 10k sitting in a Vanguard traditional IRA that was rolled from an old 401k. Currently 50% in a Biotech Fund and 50% in an Energy Fund. They haven't really done much over the last few years... just hovered around the same value. I will not be adding to this as I have a new 401k and Roth that I contribute to regularly.
Any advice on how to get better returns from these "Extra" funds? Park it in a blue-chip that pays dividends? I'm OK with some extra risk on this.

i love dividends but unless you already have a ton of growth funds which it looks like you do not and are only sector specific( not that it is bad, as I have Real estate and healthcare sector funds) get some diversified growth with an index fund
VIGAX-large cap growth
VTSAX-large cap blend
either one, both invest in similar companies, many of which are the same.
