Looking to possibly buy some Nordic American Tankers stock. Anyone see this as a bad idea?

NAT advised investors they see a strong market ahead and have doubled their dividend from .07 to .14 a share.

With the oil storage concerns it seems tankers are in a good place for growth as logistics begins to be more and more of a factor. This particular stock has shot up recently, but I think it has more upside.

I am up 35% on DHT. Storage is a good short term play while oil is down in my opinion.

I’d agree, but probably only if you get in early. I would imagine it’s a crowded trade right now.

It’s one of those things the seasoned guys probably jumped on early before the rest thought of it. Now, the market has already adjusted.

I got in a little under $4.

I think NAT will see $7-8 in the short-term. Around earnings next month is when I expect this stock to hit this target and will exit a few of my positions.

It's bullish across the tanker industry in the next 3 months and a number of tickers will be good plays.

Excellent play. Way to think ahead.

Having owned it years ago (like 15), I'm disappointed in myself for not thinking about NAT once I knew of the lack of storage in the oil market.

I’ve been following for a long time(5+ years). They were going to be doing good with oil just sub 50 this year. I’m thinking it will trade up until earnings, and if they are above expectations(which keep going up now), i feel it will bust $10.

I wouldn’t park too long, after the last contango I got broadsided with a 1-8 split by these chaps.

Just remember that oil storage is a temporary problem. Once storage concerns are alleviated, the current economics of the oil industry is gonna drive down demand for liquid bulk transport, which is the bread and butter of tanker operators

Completely agree. As someone who works in the shipping industry for a pretty large tanker company, my opinion is if you haven’t already gotten in you probably already missed any real opportunity. And if you are in do not hold this medium or long term. This is a short term play only.

I got in at 6.54, thinking (hoping) this gets close to 10 within the next week or so.

Thanks, the CEO's interview with Cramer was a nice end to last week. Huge momentum today and continuing AH.

$NAT is the worst Tanker play out there and will be a pump and dump as the company is holding an option to sell about 40M shares.

$INSW
$TNK
$DSSI
$EURN
$STNG
$TNP

Are solid plays, still trading under their scrap value.

$FRO
SDHT
$NNA
$NAT
$ASC

All these trade at premium, but are still good plays and should have solid dividends. Couple of these companies have bad debt (especially NNA) but with the rates they are getting, they are all plays really.

With the Glut that is collecting, we will be working through the over storage for at least 18 mths. if not more. Tankers aren't great investments, until they are.

Anyone in $NAT I would suggest taking profits and rolling them into another tanker company (INSW, DSSI, EURN). They are well managed and won't screw you.

If you want to live dangerously STNG has a huge product fleet and is a floating ATM right now, but their President is a bit of a loose cannon.

Don't get left holding the bag as none of these are long term (10+ year) plays.

I'm long in INSW, DSSI, TNK, and STNG. May start a position in TNP this week.

Tanker thesis came from @hkuppy on Twitter. Also you can follow @mintzmyer, @Tankersint (Tanker spot rates), @CMicrotrend are good starting points.

Dumped a substantial holding in TNK at 25.50 last week.

I initially started my position back in 2009. Lived through the reverse split. Made money but the opportunity costs weren't even close to worth it.

Don't be the last guy out the door with tankers. As much as this trade is getting pumped right now, I'd guess the "wise guys" are already preparing to head to the exit.

The second there is even a sniff (I mean a faint, lingering sniff coming from miles away) that the contango rates aren't gonna hold, tankers will crater and leave a lot of people wondering what happened.
