New to having any interest in stocks

I am completely new to all of this. Just downloaded Robinhood app... if I have only about $1000 to invest, is that worthwhile at all? what are a few stocks to buy right now and how long would one typically be looking at before making enough money to exit

I was you in March of this year. A small time player here but this board has helped me to double my invested amount. Read this board with you morning coffee and make a few moves, maybe buy some Blackberry or WKHS, Ontrak, to get started. Weed stocks are on the up and usually cheap. It’s tough to buy into the larger share priced companies so don’t do it at first or just buy a share or two. That’s what I did just to get me interested. So far, so good.
Good luck. Ask questions and don’t try to be a big baller with your $1000 because you’ll likely be asking some dumb arse questions like I still do quite regularly.

Questionable advice.
Instead start reading books about the greatest traders. Buffer, munger, Lynch, graham.
Learn to understand value and the world will be your oyster. Lynch will help you translate value into growth more.
But the fundamentals are all here to be pretty salty and identify what posts on here are bullshite and what posts have good info which is essential in selecting your stock plays. Realistically unless it's your full time job you're not gonna find all the trades on your own. Too much research required, there's plenty of necessary research you should conduct on your own
to fill your nights and weekends with after reviewing someone else's research on a trade or company.

What's the goal with this? Make a bunch of money quick, retirement, or just to play around with and you don't care if you lose it?
