in the market for a truck. Accepted a new job and turning in my company vehicle.

Don’t like buying new normally but have heard the used auto market is bad for buyers right now.

Ive been watching pricing online for a while now. Doesnt mean much, but the prices on new and used are both much higher than what they were.

I just bought 2 used cars for my kids; market seemed pretty close to normal in Alabama. Inventory had been low obviously, but they all seemed back to pre covid inventory.

I hear Hertz has some decent deals...if you want used and possibly driven like it was stolen.

I’ve always been the “try to buy a higher end used vehicle” kind of person but when I was truck shopping a few yrs ago, I couldn’t believe what they were asking for used trucks. Figured I might as well get a new one for a little more. I’ve been happy with that decision.

This was me four years ago when I was truck shopping. I gave up and got a new mid sized truck.

And yes the used car market is out of whack right now. We were thinking of getting a car for our 17 year old, but have decided to wait until next year. No big deal.

There’s not enough difference in price to justify the potential negative issues of a used vehicle.

Risk:Reward

Even if I had to scale back my purchase to afford new, I would so I would have the peace of mind and factory warranty.

Same here. A year ago I got a good deal on a new F150. Then I qualified for a $4,000 direct marketing rebate. Several salespeople said it was the biggest rebate they’ve seen. Must people get $500-$1,000. I got a brand new truck for less than the cost of a 2107 with 30,000 miles.

Not sure what your price point, or model choice is; but there are several 0% financing options out there from dealerships trying to move their 2020 models.

Not sure by if it’s still the case, but Ford was giving people individual rebates based on their buying history. The dealers would just enter my name and zip code into their system to check the amount of the rebate. We’ve bought tons of Fords over the years, so that might be why I got such a big rebate.

Bought a new RAV4 recently and glad we went with new. We couldn’t find many vehicles within 250 miles with the specs we were looking for, and all were within $3-4K of new price. We got the 0% interest promo which made the cost even closer to even because we weren’t finding great rates for used

Get the CarGurus app.

Not sure what trim you need. A few years ago when I was looking Houston had 3 New f250 crew 4wd work truck packages for $32k. That's a lot of truck for 32k. Put some katskinz in them and call it a win.

Point being the XL package if you don't mind white can be had for a hell of a deal.

I was in the same boat. I always like to buy 2 to 3 year old vehicles but the used truck market was insane when I was looking. For not much more I went with a new Sierra. Go new...trucks hold their value much longer.

1.9% financing on a new car made the decision for my wife and I to buy new for her car. We were prepared to pay cash, but financing that cheap allowed us to just lower the down payment to make the note a normal number and then throw the rest into the market.

Used deals were not that great. The price wasn’t substantially different and the extra we paid for new is well worth it for a car with 0 miles and literally the exact vehicle she wanted.

2017 Tacoma for $29K

2020 for $39K

A $10K difference is a big deal for me.

It's not. People that say that aren't willing to travel a little or negotiate at all. Deals are out there. Just bought in the last few months.

Bought a loaded CPO F150 Platinum for about half what a new one costs.
