I am probably going to have to back out of a core finance class this semester due to work schedule constraints. I'm going to try to fill that class in with something else.

For any recent LSU alumni, what are some good classes to take? A couple that caught my eye and fit with my schedule:

4070 Economic Growth (3) Prereq.: ECON 2000 and
2010; or 2030. Analysis of the determinants of economic
growth through development of theoretical and empirical
models of economic growth; discussion of both old and
new growth theory and convergence of income levels across
countries.

4720 Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (3) Prereq.:
ECON 2000 and 2010; or 2030. Price determination,
resource allocation and pricing in a market economy.

4550 International Finance (3) Prereq.: ECON 2035 or
equivalent. Exchange rates and the foreign exchange market;
exchange rate determination in the short run and in the long
run; alternative international currency systems

I would have liked to do Econometrics but it's unfortunately not offered this semester for some reason. Also, what the hell is BADM 7090 and why is it apparently a prereq for a lot of FIN classes?

Looking at the course offerings page right now. ECON 4630 (Econometrics) is offered, and has 17 available slots. You should definitely take it.

can you give me a link to that? I don't know if I don't have the prereqs or what. I should.

ETA: shite, it's a time conflict with Intermediate II for me and the other sections for that have waiting lists. It's stupid that Finance majors have to even go past managerial but oh well.

I have to agree with Tigercross... If you haven't taken econometrics you need to.

Is this your last semester? If not, I would drop Intermediate II in favor of Metrics (assuming you don't need Intermediate for classes you want to take next year). Econometrics can give you something potentially cool to discuss in interviews.

No I'm a junior but basically have two semesters left, hours-wise. If it helps, I'm thinking about trying to do accelerated Ms Fin since I can use a semester of TOPS and get an extra summer for internships. Plus I would get 150 hours in case I want to do CPA down the road.

edited again: Intermediate I and II are required for B.S. in Finance.

4550 isn't too bad. It is an interesting class and the final is optional.
