Marathon Oil
Founded in 1800s
Publically traded for 30 years
52 week high - 19.93
COVID-19 Market Drop - 3/5/20 8.00 ---> 3/9/20 3.50
Currently trading at 3.89

Save the COVID drop, this is an ALL-TIME LOW.

yes...I know...P/E could be better 7.2, but we're still talking about a solid Mid-Cap company (3.B) that will bounce back when oil eventually does. ( and it will...always does)

Can someone tell me why I should not load up on this and wait?

Because they got involved in chasing shale oil and shed all their good conventional assets along with refining being split off. They now can’t drill economic wells sub 50$ along with the rest of the shale chasers and have a high probability of going bankrupt.

That’s pretty good reasoning

Oil IS going to $10. There’s nowhere on earth to even store the stuff so I’d say MRO is worth a swing trade at $2

Better off looking at MPC for longer term. That’s the refiner.

Did you look at their debt? Append that to the poster that noted they are now on the shale treadmill.

Check their cash flow statement.

They weren't making real money at $50 or $60 oil.

I don't own MRO. Was more so commenting on how bizarre it was for oil stocks to be up today
