Anyone have experience with this?
<---this guy.
I'm self-employed so I have to sign an affidavit saying I don't offer coverage to myself. Being on her plan vs having my own saves me about $250/month. While being on her plan I also have to have a health coach that calls me 5x a year to make sure I'm staying healthy.

Well... Are you?

I think so. Even before this "coaching". For 15 years I've been participating in different multi sport events. Triathlons, ultra rides, mtb racing, swim challenges. I'm usually up around 4am and do some form of workout min. 5 days a week.

Been working with some third graders on witty comebacks all day?
It wasn't witty. It was the truth. I gave no advice.
If you want to talk about third graders maybe we should discuss your reading comprehension.

Yep. It's not that bad and saves me on my premium. Five 5-10 minute calls a year. We've talked on different subjects about stress, nutrition, but now we just discuss training. It's kind of funny because I'm sure she's use to other people fighting obesity or smoking or something and I reply with my training schedules. Oh I've been averaging about 18-25 miles running, cycling about 75-100 miles, swimming 4000-5000meters per week.

Ugh. A dirty triathlete.

It's not that bad for you. Triathletes are a self-aggrandizing bunch. Poor woman who has to listen to you drone on and on and on.
I'm a cyclist and I'm absolutely kidding. I love to talk training as well.
That's pretty interesting. I've never heard of a practice like that. Annual physicals, sure. But phone calls? Interesting.

Obama did not start this. Employers started the trend before Obamacare came along. Obamacare does mandate the employer provide coverage to the employee's kids, but spousal coverage is not mandated, and it never was.
Correct.
What people are thinking is the Obamacare "glitch" - a provision in the law that makes spouses and children ineligible for subsidies.
OP should look into sharing ministries as an option.

I don't consider myself a TRI geek... anymore. Actually would probably consider myself something like a cyclist but not a roadie. I like showing up on group rides with my fixed gear to punk roadie snobs.
I like all forms of cycling. Just wish I had more time to do it.

Obamacare didn't start it but it sure as hell plays a huge factor as to why it is much more common now.
Just like how small companies stay under 49 employees and won't let employees work more than 29 hours.

State of Alabama has this same rule to cover employees. Had to get a letter from my wife's employer stating benefits weren't available to her in order to get her on my BCBS

I don't allow spouse coverage if they are offered insurance through their company. Too expensive
I also require a letter from their employer stating that they are not eligible for insurance benefits.

Seems like quite a few companies saw the opportunity to make cuts/changes to their medical insurance and blame it on "Obamacare"
