Importing Products From India, China, etc?

I help run an oilfield and industrial supply company based out of Shreveport. I'm all about American made and buy/sell as much as I can but some items have to be imported to be priced competitively. I'm doing my research on the best way to import and do it without getting in any kind of trouble or getting ripped off. Anyone have any experience and/or have links to information or videos to fast track my learning process?

It’s a pain, you need a solid broker in the states, and a good contact overseas.
I did a container of boats, but knew everyone involved intimately and visited the factory. Was still a huge hassle.

For the most part the customers in the international countries will know what flight options are available to them. You can work with a local freight forwarder or shipping company to help you as well; Pro Cargo, DHL, UPS, FedEx...
In regards to the products themselves, a lot of that will depend on if your items require some sort of regulatory body to oversee the transportation (LADEQ, DOT...). You would know whether this applies to you because you would already need the license if you were buying the same products domestically.
I would start with whatever shipping company you currently use the most and discuss what you are trying to accomplish with them. They have expert on staff that will help guide you where you need to go.
