Importing goods from China

Anyone have recent experience importing goods from China? We are looking to import acrylic from a Chinese manufacturer and wanted to understand some of the tarriffs/taxes/fees that we could incur so we can determine true costing.

Unfortunately there are no american manufactures of Acrylic, so everything comes from China. The phone that you just gave me the middle finger from....made in China.

Sounds like this would be a great opportunity for your business to expand and get into the acrylic making business then.

I know nothing about the particular Acrylic products you are looking for, but none of these places has what you need?

Most of the supplies of acrylic in US are getting the product from China. There are some suppliers of acrylic in the US, but not for what we need it for. Acrylic has lots of different variations of it.

Chinese companies are infamous for not sticking to specifications.
My friend worked on a law suit after China had captured all of the manufacture of bowling machines. The didn't follow the specifications and the things broke down more than they were worth.
Funny thing is that bowling is extremely popular in China and they have some massive bowling alleys. However, as my friend noted, they had a lot of mechanics tending the machines. That might work out okay with Chinese labor, but it was a disaster here.

I'm curious what you mean by "acrylic"?
acylic monomers? acrylic acid? acrylic esters? polymers? resins? paints?
