How nerve racking is waiting to hear about a job offer?
Got an out of nowhere email about a job opening on Monday, ended up sitting down and interviewing later that afternoon. Job would be a move up and 40% raise plus some extra perks and better benefits.

I've been sitting by my phone since my interview and constantly checking my email waiting to hear back.

How nerve racking is it for y'all when in the same situation? This is a pretty big move for my career so I can't stop thinking about how great it would be.

damn ,that escalated quickly.

Put in for an internal job recently and I'm interviewing next week. So I'll be in that spot soon. Hopefully you established a timeline during the interview, so you know when to reach back out to ask for an update)

Not nearly as nerve wracking as waiting for the pathologist/biopsy results. It’s a job.....

Not near as nerve-racking as realizing how we stay in business with all the 40 hour week folks in the office that do nothing

If you've heard nothing from them since Monday you're not their first choice.

Did you follow up with a "thank you for the interview" letter or email?

Yea I've spoken with them a few times since. Got a copy of their benefit plans, was asked for a quick run down on my experience with different softwares, talked timeline

This just isn't true.

Every offer I've been a part of takes forever. Once you finish scheduled interviews, it's typically 4 days before everyone has calendar availability to discuss the favorite vs who is most affordable. Then you hash out salary details and deal with HR approval. It's always so long I worry I'm going to lose the candidate.

Maybe you weren't their first job choice. Or you work for a highly bureaucratic company.

Every firm I've applied to has offered me the position within 2 days. One firm offered me the job the afternoon of the same day after I interviewed that morning.

well, that answers that. If it happens that way *everytime* for russian then logic dictates it happens that way for everyone....

re: How nerve racking is waiting to hear about a job offer?
Good luck. I’ve been interviewing with a company for several weeks. Had 3 phone interviews before the final in person interview on Wednesday. I was told it’s down to just me and someone else and they would be letting us know today.

My last job closed down at the end of the year. I’m not desperate for a job as my finances are in order. I’m also doing some contract work on the side building spreadsheets for someone. But this job is a good fit for me in every way and I really want it.

My biggest concern is that I mat be overqualified in their eyes. I was told their worry was I would get bored after a few months. I’m almost sure that’s not the case and wouldn’t care if it happened.

Been sitting here all day waiting for the call. Did they go with the other guy and waiting for confirmation before turning me down? Meetings all day? Sidetracked and will get to it next week? Fun times!

The whole process is nerve racking. I'm about to move back to Louisiana and I've recently started searching for openings. I'm dreading the whole process.

Good luck
