How much is too much for a credit limit?

I previously had two different Chase cards, closed one of them, and had the Chase Rep to merge the credit limits together under one card. The reason why I did this is because I didn't want the account closure to impact my credit score. Now I have about a $44,000 limit on one card. In hindsight, it seems kind of ridiculous to have such a limit on one card to me. Any advice?

Available credit is one of the variables on your credit score. As long as your balance is zero (or low), what's the negative?

Well, I pay my balance off monthly and I guess there is no negative from what I can see. It's just seems kind of crazy to have such a large limit like that on one card. I posed the question to see what others thought about it.

Chase has a set limit they will give you across all cards depending on your qualification criteria. If you want to get additional Chase cards in the future for miles or points initial bonuses you may want to lower your limit. Prior to that there is no earthly reason to lower the limit.
