What is the dollar amount or months of living expenses you carry in a yield savings?

I don’t touch it no matter what
many days lately I’ve wondered what it could have been doing in the market but it is my hedge. All of my equity is naked and unhedged

I have about 3 years of living expenses in my savings. Maybe should invest it, but I'm planning to retire before 60 and live on it till SS kicks in.

Was about 4ish months living expenses but upped it to 6 months living expenses due to Covid and a kid on the way. Wouldn't mind upping it to a year of living expenses over time.

We both worked all the way through covid, but it was definitely an eye opener that shite can go sideways quickly due to things you have no control over and if we both had to quit working for some reason, I'd be nervous as frick with only 4 months of runway.

Sure it's probably way more than I'll ever need to have just sitting in cash only earning 1-2%, but having that mental security is worth the missed gains for me.

10k, which I could make last 7 months or so of I needed to. It stays in a separate high yield savings account and i have a separate savings account for other savings.

I have about 18 months of expenses in cash. It’s not directly earmarked, but a good bit is in anticipation of buying another property. But if SHTF, it could serve as a large EF.

Because credit tends to tighten up in a systemic emergency.

Say shtf like in 08 and you lose your job. Have fun selling at the bottom to make your house note while none of the banks are lending.

3 months worth of my take home. With unemployment and that I can make it all stretch 6 months minimum without worrying much and maintaining expense levels of today.
