Anyone have experience/reviews to share? Brother has decided that this is best way to go to pay down credit card debt for his situation. He is pre-approved but with different options that offer this type of remedy he wants to make sure this is a "safe" option. Any advice/reviews from financial gurus on here would be most appreciated.

Live like a hermit, walk or bike to work, don't buy anything you don't need, bath once a week, use more candles instead of lights, and cook your own food. Usually, if you find the slightly spoiled food you don't even have to pay full price, so extra savings.

You can mock the values of thrift, but that doesn't invalidate them. So many Americans are enslaved by norms they never question--and many do not travel or experience much of other cultures, so they actually believe they can't have a happy life without a 2500 sq ft energy wasting suburban house, or a Ford F250 used primarily for commuting.

A radical look at one's consumption practices is a form of self-reflection. It can help some people who are trapped in a vicious cycle of overspending. In the same way that a fast from certain foods can spur a person to eat a better diet, a spending fast can re-set a person's ideas of what is necessary and/or fun.

You can mock slightly spoiled food; I'm gonna buy a whole case of the dented peaches because I know they make excellent jam....which I will happily sell at the farmer's market at a tidy profit.
