re: Feeling frisky, want to dump 5-10k in RUTH
Once things return to normal, it seems like a solid performer in the mid-20's. It's just a matter of how long and rocky the road is until we get back there.

ETA: I just saw they are releasing 2Q earnings on Friday. I would assume they aren't very pretty, so there may be an opportunity to pick it up for an even lower price.

Come on man
Love a discount as much as the next guy, but whether or not this level is a discount is yet to be determined

Bro I’m not trying to perfectly time the market.

If I get in at 7.40, it will get back to 18-25 in the next 2 years or so.

I can double or triple my money pretty easily it seems.

Based on this logic, buy SSL, OKE, SAVE, CCL

I’ve got 1000 shares at $7. Was hoping to see it in that $6 range to buy some more, but I think that ship has sailed. I expect to hold this for up to 2 years.

I have a substantial position, but am currently under water.... I still think it could be 13-14 by the end of the year.

No advice given.

Are they able to withstand a year or more of bad revenue without going bankrupt?

why would they have bad revenue? All of the steak houses around here are open and loaded. I don't think they are adhering to any 25% or 50% capacity rules.

really?
Even the businesses that seem to be doing fine right now, really aren't.

Pardon my ignorance. I neither eat at their restaurants nor follow the stock.

If their business is booming then why has the stock remained so depressed in value?

If their business is booming

This was from Q1 earnings PR.
quote:

During the first quarter of 2020, the Company began to experience the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its business. While first limited to franchise locations in Asia, by the middle of March, the effect of the pandemic was felt throughout the Company’s entire operations. These effects have continued in the second quarter, resulting in a significant decline in sales and traffic. During April, Ruth’s Chris dining rooms were closed in all domestic U.S. locations, and the Company transitioned its services to take-out and delivery operations.

quote:

Total revenues in the first quarter of 2020 decreased 9.4% to $108.5 million, compared to $119.7 million in the first quarter of 2019.

And that was Q1.

idk what that guy is smoking.

All restaurants in general are going to struggle this quarter and next. I feel the ones that make make it out will boom though. When they gave back the ppp money, it showed the confidence they had (should’ve just kept it like everyone else probably). I was looking at many different food industry stocks, and this is the one I settled in. Upcoming earnings and conference call will hopefully give a little guidance.

If they decided to release earnings on a Friday afternoon, it’s gonna be an unmitigated disaster!!

It's before the bell

Before the bell is not quite as bad. I’ve been in companies that report on Friday after the bell and it’s to provide a two-day cooling off period after disastrous earnings.

I have a few grand in each of RUTH, CCL, SAVE, and a few others that tanked in March. If they all rebound I should have a nice payday. I have stop loss orders on every one of them for what I can stomach to lose.

Casinos are closed. This is as much fun as the craps table if not more so.
