I’ve only got 80 shares of this, but maybe I should just roll the dice and load up. The dividend has been consistent. Wonder how long they can keep this up?

1) price of oil stays at these levels
2) they don't issue equity.
Their last coverage has been well above 1.8 maybe? And they don't go out and make another acquisition in this environment.
And most importantly
3) DAPL isn't shutdown. Kelcy Warren pushed all his chips on the table recently by making a 10 mil donation to Trump's campaign.
If Biden is elected, the odds of the pipeline being shutdown pending full environmental assessment shoot up.

.3 kind of sucks, no?
Now of course that won't matter if it's cut or doesn't make up for the stock price drop.

It is at 5.85? What am I missing.

You invest today, you'd be getting that percentage of the money you invest yearly, provided they don't cut the dividend.
So you invest 10k,you'll be getting 2k yearly

I own some. I actually have a fair amount of faith in Energy Transfer as a company, but they’ve had a lot of headwinds. Collapse in nat gas prices, failed Williams takeover, collapse in oil prices, and now their interstate pipeline woes.
They have some great assets. All the publicity right now is around their interstate oil pipelines. But their gas assets are what set them up nicely for the future, IMO. I think if they can get through the next year or so and get back on track with their LNG plans, they’ll be in great shape long term.
It’s risky though. The price will take a beating if that dividend gets cut.

Just bought 100 more. If things look good on November 3rd, maybe I’ll add another 1000. I’m a bit nervous on energy stocks now, but they are a great buy if we get recovery

one thing about these pipeline companies is that there seems to be a fairly solid "moat" around them preventing future projects from unknown entities (or if Dems win the election, future projects at all)
and regardless of the Green New Deal or whatever, natural gas and oil will still need to be moved. pipelines are the way

They're going to cut the dividend. Everyone in the space knows it. Just a matter of when.
Extremely levered (WAY too levered if you included preferred equity), huge capex requirements, consistent industry headwinds.
Also still an MLP, so you have ZERO corporate governance. Simply being an MLP creates headwinds all in its own.

Announced quarterly cash distribution cut of 50% to $0.1525 per quarter.

Flirting with double digit losses.
Should have done this after Q1 when everyone else was.

Everything I read indicates they are poorly managed. Seems like a value trap when aggregate demand has peaked in the short run and the reflation trade depends on fiscal stimulus.

I have 200 shares currently. I view it as a speculative play. It is basically some play money for now. I 'll ride the dividend wave as long as I can. If price drops below $5.00, I'll take my profit and get out. As long as it stays in the range its at now I'll keep buying a small percentage of my biweekly buys for the time.
