Disney planning phased reopening of Florida parks

They will pitch the plan to government officials on Wednesday.
I’m not saying Disney is a buy right now, the stock could play a classic case of sell the news tomorrow if you’re familiar with how Disney stock usually works.
However it’s possible we could be looking at an open shift in those typical mechanics considering the recent $500 million investment by the Saudi investment firm. Will they allow their investment to crash?
Regardless, it’s an interesting scenario considering the move to reopen should be well received since Florida has a republican governor.
I’m hopeful Dis will rise tomorrow because I’ve got plenty of stocks I’m planning on holding through Jan.

It’s going to the moon baw. It’s made a nice comeback already and the parks aren’t even open yet

I picked up a long position at $90 when it dipped.
I’m sure some of the recent run up is anticipation of the reopening announcement, so it may not jump, or may even drop, after the announcement, but I’m long on DIS either way. The parks and sports/TV will get back and Disney+ is a beast.
Say a prayer for whoever it was in the DIS thread a month ago that called it the easiest short ever when it was at $102.

It’s going to get unanimous consent. Approval is not news as Universal already got their plan approved last week. Disney is only going higher from here. When the stock did not drop significantly (held huge support at $99) after earnings it was obvious the stock was going to be strong. Nice 20% pop in the last two weeks on what many consider a boring stock.

Well, my initial plan was to sell at $110, but I didn't stick to that. At this point, I'll likely keep accumulating on dips.
I like what they're doing with Disney+ and other online content. Maybe this situation will allow them to trim some fat at ESPN/ABC. They're making huge investments to modernize the Disney parks to draw in the new generations and we all know the Disney loyalists will show no matter what.
TL;DR - I initially bought to flip, but after further research, I'm a DIS believer.

I can’t think of many, if any, stocks instead of Disney that id want to hold forever.
I initiated a large position in Disney during Covid. Only problem was I started buying way too early and only bought a small amount under $100.

It’s showing some resilience premarket, hitting the brakes at 123.68. This will be fun.

I’m a current Disney employee. One of my coworkers who is late 60s only bought Disney stock for his retirement. The look of pure distraught when the stock first took a plunge was incredibly sad. While I wouldn’t only buy Disney stock, I think it rebounds. It will most likely always retain its value and bounce back from moments like this.

What do you think about the new CEO?
Posted on 5/27/20 at 2:04 pm to bass
He will be great for investors. I think he is someone who will make Disney more efficient at their current products rather than be a trail blazer and come up with new and risky ideas. The only worry is that he is known for massively slashing budgets and experiences to increase profit (can’t get into specifics). So you hope he doesn’t cut so much that it starts negatively affecting experiences across all of the Disney’s products. But he has already made some position moves to include people who will challenge him on that rather than be a yes man, so I’m not worried.

I increased my position to 1,000 shares in early April with adjusted cost right at $100. I think it zooms past all time highs in the next 12 months. It’s in my top 20 holdings that I won’t touch for 2 years.

It will zoom, surprised it didn't after the announcement.
