I never liked cruises - virus has just reinforced my opinion - but stocks have taken an absolute beating:

Royal Caribbean (RCL) down to 22 from 52-wk high of 135 - Carnival (CCL) under 10 from 52-wk high of 57.

Opportunity here? Would those of you that like to take cruises be reluctant to go again?

I would personally still go on cruises. Especially after this is over and the virus runs its course.

I’ve been watching them. I’m going to hold off a little longer. Cruises are luxuries and luxury spending is going to be down. However, cruises are also inexpensive vacations, so these stocks may rebound quicker once the virus stigma has passed.

Someone else probably has different and better thoughts on this.

I recently opened up a trading account just for this reason. To answer you question, I have a cruise planned later this year and this won't deter me. I have been on a few carnival cruises and a HUGE percentage of people that cruise on there are not just regulars but fanboy level carnival cruisers. I've talked to a few who book 3-4 cruises a year and have been for decades. Their people WILL come back.

My biggest question is will it keep dropping? Carnival stock is around $9 right now...... They aren't scheduled to sail till earliest in April sometime. Wondering if I should hold out a bit longer.

I think we’re all interested in gambling on these cruise stocks.

As long as a cruise line doesn’t go out of business, the sector and the stock will rebound eventually.

Tough to imagine people won’t be sailing carnival again.

Not big on cruises myself, but this is one of the main reasons Ive been buying CCL daily since it dropped below 14. The demand will still be there after all of this without a doubt.

They'll also benefit from the OPEC price war.

My Excel sheet is at home but CCL and RCL aren't in that bad a place in terms of debt load. They should be able to ride this out.

Trump talked about using the cruise ships to house people. might be a good way to get some revenue rather than parking all the ships and being unused

Oof - would you get on a ship that was used to treat virus patients?

That RCL stock looks so good to me. It stayed consistently around the 120s and above for a long time and now is down under 25. Anybody have any good advice why I shouldn’t buy this one over the others?

the question becomes is there any reason to buy any cruise stock now, (considering nobody is sailing for months) or just wait to see what happens.

Traders will go in and out, but for us long term guys, there’s probably no rush to get in now, right ?

I like their chances at getting govt support if they are able to help out with the outbreak.

With that said, I honestly don't know if it makes sense using these vessels to house people. Would probably make more sense to just stage them in a hotel or conference center or mall.

Carnival might not make it through this, that company is in shambles

I think after the number of times carnival was mentioned by name in today press conference, they are in good shape.

I'm not so sure, the government will already be pouring a ton into airlines

I wouldn't think cruise ship co. would be at the top of their list

I'm wondering if cruise ships will be able to get back to work sooner than other industries. It's a controlled population on the ship. Once they get the testing down to hours and have plenty of tests available, you would think they could just test everyone coming on board.
