I do this work for a living. Never do these documents on your own. Just pay the $600-$1,000 for a basic estate plan (will, advance directives, power of attorney, etc.). Well worth the money. Make sure you go to someone who doesn't just do this work on the side. I can give you a phone number for someone I know in Metarie that does great work. He's a JD, CPA, LLM -- brilliant dude and does only estate planning.
