Didn't want to post on OT, does anyone know a good recruiter for Professional Construction jobs in B.R.? I have one in N. O. area, but not sold on them.

Just call the C.M. department at LSU. They'll connect you with the alumni network. You should have no problem then.

Are you looking to hire someone, or a recruiter to get hired?

Grow some balls and call some companies you want to work for.

I'm really not trying to come off as a dick here.

Most companies are willing to hire qualified people. Very few are willing to PAY a headhunter commission

every company in B.R. that i know of is so overloaded with work right now you should have no problem cold calling to at least get an interview. As long as your resume is good and you have at least a couple years of good experience, you should have very little problem getting interviews.

What kind of construction job are you looking for? I may or may not work at a construction company that is currently hiring.

Definitely listen to the guy that said get in touch with LSU CM department. They have a fall and spring employee recruitment day where potential employees meet with mostly local firms for interviews. I manned the table for my old company and the place was packed. As I recall, you submit your resume and the employers get to sift thru them to see who they'd like to interview, but I think you can also approach the employers as well. It was well run and the main lady that coordinates the event did a very good job in my opinion. Commercial and Industrial were well represented when I was there. If you're a cm grad this should definitely make your to do list. It's a much bigger/better event than it was in early 2000's when I was there.

Employers really don't want to have to use a recruiter due to the fees but they will when they're understaffed and backlog is high. Just be careful with recruiters. They're not all trustworthy. I had good luck early in my career with Kimmel & Associates but I don't know that they do much in LA.

Good luck. It goes without saying, but hussle your arse off and you'll find something.

I didn't want to tell people here they were off base, but all my contacts say it is slow. That is why I was looking at a recruiter. Most comanies were planning on huge projects and they just haven't materialized. Right now, with budgeting for next year, May to June is usaully when things break loose. I think I may be a little late.

So, you're out of a job, and can't find a job in Baton Rouge, but you're unwilling to move somewhere to get a job?
