Don't understand the downvotes. You're absolutely right. They'll make a decision on a trendy progressive city (west coast liberals make all the decisions) then work the numbers backwards to make it look like a sound fiscal decision so long as the difference isnt absurd.

I see it every day here.

I feel like Portland is a reasonable destination because it is only a couple of hours south of their current headquarters in Seattle.

Every other state will give tax breaks.

Louisiana politicians will probably try to collect a handout.

After reading his biography, he looks for states with low sales taxes, he owns a monster ranch in Texas around Austin and he grew up in Houston.

Speaking to people from Seattle, there is a love hate relationship with Amazon. They love the jobs, but they say the traffic has doubled in the last 10 years.

My bet is Dallas or Chicago.

Big enough to support the labor force, centrally located, with it being major transportation hubs.

I can honestly see houston putting together a legit bid

-Port
-State of Texas help
-Smart workforce
-Oil being down allows cheap office space (they could literally buy Greenspoint for 10 cents on the dollar)
-two international airports
-many Fortune 500 companies from which to partner with
-good schools through the metro area

Austin is odds on favorite with Whole Foods. But Houston is just two hours away.

The only thhing holding us back is public transit. But that can be fast tracked. The high speed train that they want to build in Texas is good for stuff like this as well.

They can put it where Disney World was supposed to go. But just like that, LA politics will probably mess that up too.

Correct, this is the best bet- Chicago or DFW.

For a company that big, you have no clue how big of a deal it is to be centrally located with a massive airport that can do a nonstop anywhere in the world.

For DFW, they have an area over by the TX Motor Speedway in Tarrant County which is 20 minutes from DFW airport, and has a ton of land. Amazon also has a MASSIVE distribution facility in that area.

Chicago and Illinois in general is so messed up with budget and taxes, I cant see them going there. Cant imagine a scenario where the state of Illinois can offer them many financial reasons to move there.

I really hope Houston takes a run at this. I think we can put together a great bid. if for no other reason than to be a finalist and allow other tech companies to notice.
