Anybody used ally bank savings? Currently at 2.35% but I was interested in the bucket system.

Ally just bumped to 2.5% this week, they've been moving up in increments among the FED bumps. Will probably be around 3% by year-end

Do you buy directly from Treasury Direct?

I have yes, especially treasuries I intend to hold until maturity.

but if I understand correctly you can't sell treasuries on the secondary market at treasury direct. to sell treasuries on the secondary market before their maturity you will need to buy from a brokerage or bank.

Basically correct. You can however transfer marketable securities bought on Treasury Direct to a broker/dealer and sell them that way. You can also transfer marketable securities bought from a broker/dealer into your Treasury Direct account. But because securities held in the Treasury Direct account aren’t marginable and can’t be used as collateral, even if I buy on there, I hold the securities in my brokerage accounts.

Another thing to keep in mind when comparing yields between treasury securities and CDs is the fact that treasuries avoid state and local income taxes, whereas most CDs do not.

Switched to 360 this morning. I gave Discover a chance to match Capital One’s rate but they only went to 2.75 this morning so frick em! Made the switch on my phone before even getting out of bed.

Was looking at buying some through Fidelity, but it does not seem as straightforward as I would have thought. Wanted to ladder short term (3, 6, 9 month and 1 year).

If it’s your first time dealing with fixed income, not a bad idea to call a rep and let him walk you through the platform structure. That shouldn’t qualify as a “broker assist” ($).

Once you get the hang of it, it should be super easy.

Bask Bank, which is a subsidiary online bank of Texas Capital Bank has a variable interest earning savings account at 3.6% apy. It was 2.75% two months ago.

They also currently have a 6 mo.CD at 4% apy.

Good thread - set up a XXXXXXX (name witheld) account this morning. Of course it was a complete breeze until my retard financial institution can't do the instant validation via Plaid.

Gotta wait a couple days for the micro deposits. FML

Barclays updated to 3% on their savings this morning. Been considering grabbing some 1 year CDs in the 4% range, but think I'm just gonna sit tight... good shot some of these savings keep creeping up in the near term.

You have to pay the management fee to get that rate.
