Are you making moves with these last few down days?
*This is not a doom and gloom post* Since we've had a couple 2%= down days here latey have you been doing any rebalancing / buying / selling? I'm getting flash backs to last March waking up and seeing these down days. As I did in March I am keeping the positions I have for now as I don't have any cash sitting on the side lines. I'd like to hear what moves yall are doing / not doing. I did take some money out of a tech a month or so ago and put it in an S&P index fund but that's about all the moves I've made. The S&P is up 8% or so YTD so overall its been a pretty good year so far. NASDAQ on the other hand is up just over 1% YTD.

No. I'm accumulating some cash on the sidelines waiting things out a bit.

I'm watching for now. Looking to balance because energy and travel are too high a percentage of my holdings. Would also like to have a little more international.

Have to balance that with good yields.

I completely emptied my MGM and Marriott that I bought in March 2020 and put it into Verizon.

Both MGM and Marriott were trading at peak levels and I didn't want to risk market panic.

I mentioned it on another thread but I am loading up on PINS. I thought I was getting a bargain at $70 but this is a freaking steal at sub $60.

I may post a longer thread with my thesis but I see this stock going on a real bull run in the next 5 years

It’s going to be a lot tougher this year to make money

I've taken a strong position across three accounts with Tellurian now.

My 401k
Roth
Cash account

All now have a solid position.

I think this gas issue as well as global gas market is going up.

Blackrock just announced they increased their holding 16% to 31 million.

Tellurian paid all it's debt off last week.

I’m sick if day trading individual stocks - always late into the game and come out with very little gain or a loss.

I’m loading up on 10 more shares of QQQ if it hits ~$300 range ; I also plan on going after some WMT if it gets down to $120 a share.

Yea it seems I’m always late to the game on individual stocks also. I’ve been slowly reducing my individual stock holdings and putting them into index funds because of this reason. It’s FOMO that kills me everytime and then I end up buying some stock and it ends up not paying off most the time. The holds I’ve just left alone have made me the most.

Made a bit on a VIX call option today. Think the market is gonna bounce back at least tomorrow so I bought a cheap $23 VIX 5/19 put.

Do you guys think Tesla is a Buy still?

I’ve been freeing up some cash to invest in tesla and it’s now below $600

I’ve waited a week and it’s dropped $75. I don’t know how low it’s going to go

I'm not trying to fight a trend either way. I still think we go a bit lower from here. Might try to buy some SPY puts for a quick scalp if we get a rebound tomorrow. I will have a tight stop set bc last year I almost blew my account up with puts.

I may actually speed up my dollar cost averaging into the market. I've got cash and it's a matter of when to buy in...time to catch the falling knife?

TELl is an interesting speculative play, but be careful using BlackRock/Vanguard/Fidelity positions as your reasoning. When a stock goes up in price relative to its peers it usually ends up with a larger position in the passive funds these institutions run. The majority of BlackRock’s stake is through their index ETFs and funds, for example. They essentially have to buy it on the rebalance dates. On the same token, selling in those institutions shouldn’t be a red flag either.

Agreed.

I basically decided on the play because of the CEO as well as global instability coming up.

The US will be a stable source of natural gas. As more places want it, places like Mozambique (which has been set back) and Qatar may prove to be too unstable.

At best they take off.

At worst they still have a natural gas field that produces they added to. Won't lose it all.

Your blood pressure will be lower for it. I've always indexed and got some respect for the people in threads like this that can handle paying attention every damn day, but not for me. Did fine so far. Downturns are just a curiosity to me.
