Amended Return w IRS

Anyone that deals with the IRS regularly know if there are major delays in the IRS processing amended returns due to limited staffing. I filed a 1040X back in Jan, and again in April. When I check the "Where's My Amended Return?", I get the same general message that amended returns take 3 weeks to show on the portal and they will process within 16 weeks of receipt

I would say that yes there are major delays with processing amended returns as they are paper filed. Unfortunately you just need to sit back and wait.

That was my assumption, just wondering if anyone has heard anything definitive and maybe if anyone has been given a realistic approximate time frame.

Last time I was one the phone with them, the lady said they weren't even opening up mail until after the deadline passed.
