401k Rate of Return YTD
Posted by AnonymousTiger on 5/7/18 at 10:12 pm14
How is everyone's 401k doing so far this year? I'm thinking about scaling back on my aggressive position for a while since I'm only treading water with the volatility (0.06% ytd).
My current allocations look like this (very aggressive according to my Voya plan):
Cash 0%
Bonds 0%
Large-cap stocks 36%
Mid/small-cap stocks 21%
International stocks 43%

More info - I'm 30 years from retirement, just seeing about my current aggressive allocation.

Compared to last year? No where near enough.

-.09%
33% small cap
33% Medium cap
34% Large cap
33% small cap
33% Medium cap
34% Large cap
YTD
-0.51% employer contribution
-0.19% employee contribution
Not sure how its different when both is in a Vanguard Inst Target retirement 2040 fund.
TBH, I really don't pay much attention to the return %. I'm expecting it to be negative this yr as I'm a bit pessimistic on the short term outlook.

My alternate investments in my solo 401k are doing just fine. Thanks for asking.

I like how half the people in this thread don’t care about their 401k ROR this year, but last year, each weekly 401k ROR thread was a race to see whose was highest

Lol, mine was definitely around 25% at one point. Like everyone else, about flat ytd. 100% vanguard s&p index, not ever going to change that.
re: 401k Rate of Return YTDPosted by Powerman on 5/8/18 at 9:35 am to AnonymousTiger
Mine is at .92% right now
Did over 21% last year
If I could take alternating years of 20% with flat years I'd be ok with that

I just checked and I'm at +5.4% YTD in my primary 401k.
Gains are driven by this investment: Fidelity® Growth Company Commingled Pool.
Damn that's really good
My best allocation for this year is
Principal SmallCap S&P 600 Index Separate Account

I generally don't obsess about returns in the short term, as they move all over the place.
I think I am about flat for this year.

To be fair they were outnumbered by the crypto mogul threads.
