Pleased to say that I was able to catch that "falling knife" as the stock market dropped. The 401 K plan is now a positive 0.23%. My plan allows me to transfer funds without a fee. I made five transfers from Stable Value Fund to the S & P 500 Index Fund.
The last "purchase" was at 2237.4 on March 23,2020 with little (SVF) cash left to make another transfer. Today I moved some back to SVF going down to 72% equities. At some point I will go to the 50 % category.

I cannot advocate for everyone to try to time the market but we did discuss this on this board. Good luck.

IRA's are a different story; YTD returns are:

Fidelity Select Energy------ -38.64%
Franklin Mutual Quest------- -18.21%
Franklin Mutual Discover---- -23.95%

They have historically had better than market returns. I never thought them to be overly aggressive but oil and gas is in a trick bag for the time being. No RMD's required this year as part of the stimulus package so I will wait and see.

I’m well above where I was mid March now.
I transferred most of my funds to VITAX and VIGAX and that has been a very wise move

Good deal. My wife's Vanguard (non-tax deferred) account is very conservative. I think that Vanguard has something for everybody.

Mine does not
But, I am only down 1.6% from last year + my 2020 contributions. I am definitely happy about that considering Feb & Mar

(LY balance + Contributions + Dividends - Fees) / LY Balance = -1.6%

I haven’t made any moves in my 401k, which is made up of S&P index funds and large cap index funds and I’m at basically 0% for the year (think it’s -.4% as of this morning).

Give that the S & P Index closed at 150 points lower that the end of the mark of 3080.8 ( about -4.6% ) would suggest that the large cap is doing well for you.

Given that the index is up 1.2% so far today I might recover my buy-in at 3128.3 more sooner than later. At that point it will begin to have a handsome return if the market recovers or exceeds the end of year mark. Up until 3128.3 I will stay in the red for that buy-in amount.

The record S & P close is 3386.1 Due to the uncertainties of the virus none of the forecasters expect the index to return to that level by the end of this year. However, never underestimate the abilities for the economists to predict things wrong.

My current plan administrator allows four unlimited transfers between funds. I recall years ago that the previous one allowed three transfers per quarter, also with no fees.

Back then I had mostly company stock and they usually exceeded market averages with the dividends included. At any rate I did not pay much attention to it.

Nicely done. Down 8% in my 401k YTD but with a 30 year horizon I don't particularly care. Up quite a bit in my brokerage account.

My 401k is still down 4.5%....but it was down 30% at one point so I won't complain too much.

I'm up 34.97% this year, with complete luck.

My company does a lump sum funding on 1 year of service. Mine hit at the smack rock bottom of the covid crap.

That is amazing. I do know a few employees at Sasol who loaded the wagon with their company stock in the $2.00 per share category. It was $20.00 in January and plunged. I told him not to put any money in a leaking boat.

One of them called me this AM and wanted to know if he should take some profits. Sasol was trading at $7.45 per share. I told him that I was not qualified to give him advise but taking a profit is typically not a bad thing.

Complete luck does randomly happen to all of us, I suppose.

My 401 will be back in the green after today. Considering I was down around 225k at my low point I'm elated. I did move 100k into a mutual fund around the bottom. My taxed account isn't faring as well
