Just for grins I thought I'd see how the stocks have performed in 2018 YTD through yesterday that have been picked for our 2019 game.

I've set them up as a watch list on MorningStar.com and have customized a report to only show the ticker symbol and YTD total performance. You can see how your stocks have done so far in this year.

Now don't go all full-metal panic if your stock is way down this year and start changing your picks. I might resign as the Stock Pick 'em organizer if that happens.

As we all know, a down year for a stock can mean the next year will be real good for it.

If you notice one of your stocks not showing up on the list, please let me know. That means I've overlooked it in your post or I typed in an incorrect ticker symbol.

ETA: Never mind. You're referring to market cap minimum. I thought you were referring to stock price.

South, according to MarketWatch.com your stock pick IIPR has a market cap of only $493 million. One of our rules is companies must have a minimum market cap of $500 million.

Could you please choose another company to replace it? Thanks.

Not sure exactly how the rules work, but as of right now, there are 9,776,000 shares outstanding. Priced today at 51.60, gives me market cap of 504MM.

Let me know if this doesn't work. Thanks

Before I enter companies on my spreadsheet, I check the ones I'm not familiar with on MorningStar to make sure they meet the $500 million market cap minimum.

The $.90/share increase in share price yesterday moved IIRC's market cap over the $500 market cap minimum. So as of today, you're good.

I'm not going to check all of the companies market caps again until January 1. If IIPR meets the $500 million minimum as of 1/1/19, you're good to go. If it doesn't, you'll be dropped from the competition. So I'll leave it up to you what you want to do.

Excellent. Thanks.

I'll check closer to 1/1 and if it's in danger of not making the cut, I'll pick a different company.

Nah, not a big deal.

I probably make it harder on myself than it has to be just because I'm an Excel dummy. Someone who knows his way around Excel could probably save time.

I set the spreadsheet up so that I'm forced to key in the each ticker symbol twice in two different columns on the spreadsheet to reduce the chance that I've made a typo.

Then after I've sorted the symbol lists in alphabetical order for both areas that I've entered the symbols, I use the compare function which alerts me if the two lists aren't identical and where the difference in lists is if they aren't identical.

Then I have to add the new symbol on the MorningStar list of stocks on our watch list.

So in all I have to key in the new ticker symbols 3 times and re-sort the lists. Not a big deal.

If it starts being too much trouble I'll just effin' quit and let somebody else do it.

Just noticed the 500m market cap minimum, can Waitr(WTRH) get an exemption? It's pretty much the only Louisiana company that might ever reach unicorn status.
If not I understand

There's no need for an exemption at this point.

When I checked it the other day when I entered your picks WTRH's market cap was well over $500 million.

But your question made me check it again just now on MorningStar and it has a $613 million market cap.

So, you're all set.....assuming it doesn't drop over a hundred million in market cap in the next 18 days.
