Encoring our 2018 stock pick 'em contest that we all did so well in ( 2018 contest), let's try it again in 2019.

Simple rules:

1. Pick FIVE stocks which you must keep for all of 2019 as your contest portfolio.

2. Each stock must have a market cap greater than 500 million.

3. No funds, ETFs or derivatives (Ex: XLF or GBTC)

4. Must be listed on the NYSE or NASDAQ. (This is so the market tracker we'll use to download performance data into our Excel spreadsheet, MORNINGSTAR, will have your stock in their database.)

5. The winner will be the person whose 5 stocks have the highest combined average return performance, including dividends.

6. (ETA: THIS RULE HAS BEEN DROPPED. SEE MY EXPLANATION FOR INCLUDING A "MERGER ADJUSTMENT" ON PAGE 29 OF THIS THREAD.) If any of the companies you choose get bought by or merged into another company the successor (surviving) company will become one of your 5 picks. This means you'll probably lose the benefit of any premium buy out price your original company might have received.

7. The contest is limited to the first 55 posters who sign up and we have reached the limit. Apologies to anyone who tried to join after we hit our limit.

The winner will be entitled to one year of free membership to TigerDroppings.com. as long as this site's owners don't charge a fee to be a member of it.

For those signed up, the deadline for getting your final picks in is 10:00 PM Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Just remember, if you make the process too complicated you'll have to volunteer to track all of the stocks yourself. I ain't gettin' paid to do this!

EDIT: I've started entering your picks on my 2019 spreadsheet so if you go back and change a pick please make a new post and alert me to that fact. I won't be going back and proofreading everyone's picks every day after I've entered them on the spreadsheet. Thanks!
