Clarion Hotel in Columbia, SC
Is anyone else getting screwed by these folks? I had a room reserved, called yesterday to check on the status of the hotel given the flooding, and was told not to cancel yet, that the deadline had been pushed to Friday at 4. Called today to cancel and they changed their mind on that policy. I would have cancelled yesterday if they hadn't insisted that there was no need. Now I'm out 400 bucks and they're pretty unapologetic about it. I get that we need to be sensitive, going through a tough time, etc, but that's no excuse for shady business practices.

Call and talk to someone else. You need to escalate

They can't do that. Call someone higher up at Clarion if you have to.

See if you can donate to someone who might need it.

Call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

If you called from your cell phone, take a picture of the call log, where it shows date, time and length of call.

Submit that as proof to the credit card company if asked.

Embassy suites said the same thing when first called today, but after a civilized discussion/escalation with management they agreed to refund. As to donating the room... I will give my money to the Red Cross and specify use in South Carolina for flood victims.

Make sure that you specify that 100% of your donation goes to SC flood victims.
