You put 3-4 new/good linemen in front of Burrow

and you’ve got yourself a 10-11 win team. Defense needs to be fixed too but with a oline they’d be 2-0 now.

I used to love AJ. He looked miserable tonight... slow and lost almost

The bengals are just 40 players away from a championship roster

I don't think he's coming back from that injury. That O line is freaking terrible.

That's exactly what I noticed as well. Their offensive line just doesn't seem to gel or have chemistry as a unit. It might be a communication thing more than just lack of athletic ability. Although on that fumble near the endzone, the lineman just whiffed on his assignment and didn't have the catch-up speed to recenter himself in front of the defender. The right guard seemed to get beat all night long too, and would constantly stumble from basic passrushing techniques.
Also noticed that the Bengals need another burner WR. They elected to get Tee Higgins to seemingly begin to fill in AJ Green's role since he's nearing his retirement. But for Burrow, they really need a guy who is a few steps quicker to keep those corners and safeties in check all game, they just don't seem to have that any down threat that they need. I feel like John Ross isn't utilized like a Tyrek Hill and he's supposedly equally as fast. Also doesn't help that they feel as if they are up to par in the RB room. They could use an upgrade over Mixon. Giovani Bernard is a good guy for his speed in the room, but they need to go all in on a real prospective superstar back. However, Mixon could flourish if the blocking schemes were better.
It should only take one more draft to get some interesting prospects in to really solidify the team (they need to focus on the offensive and defensive line no doubt); they can really help themselves with some free agency pickups and should really scour the market for a veteran offensive lineman to add a real depth piece for competition while the younger guys develop. Just seems like they have too many of their guys playing out of their natural position on the line in an attempt to just get the 5 best guys out there. The issue is without the chemistry, gel, and comfortability needed it doesn't work as a plan for a cohesive unit.
I think it will be about a 1-3 year project, but if done correctly the Bengals could be one of those teams that stays in the upper tier of the NFL for a few seasons.
Offensively, they need to rework the playbook. Given the situation, with the line, they should really be doing way more quick routes to bruise a defense, and then take some home-run shots. They never really tested the Brown's defense and the 1-2 times they did the blocking was horrendous. They try to lean on the run way too much, when they have the most prolific collegiate QB in history. They could set him up so much better by giving him more quick easy routes. It's like they decided not to take any pages of LSU's playbook.

I know Joe would never do it, but if Cincy tanked and got the number one pick they could trade that for good O linemen and a boatload of picks. Get Joe an O line and the sky is the limit.
