I told you guys about Wes Johnson when JJ was hired. This is a championship move. My three sons played for Wes at Abundant Life in Sherwood, Arkansas. Won several state championships with barely enough players to field a team and his specialty was taking throwers and making pitchers.

Agreed. I played on summer team with Wes’ son after my freshman year of HS when he was at UCA. Grand slam.

Arkansas fans are melting as bad as when Gus went to Auburn.

frick us. We love to get squarely kicked in the fricking taters. Wes Johnson is a damn stud of a pitching coach. Anyone that tells you any different can't tell you the difference from their arse and their elbow.
Wished we could have thrown ungodly money at him when he left for the Twins. Nothing like shitting on ourselves in the CWS, and topping it off with this news.

One of the best major league pitching coaches and the twins not matching LSU s offer is insane. He is destined for greatness and will do what he wants, pretty much when he wants. Now kids don’t have to go to the Pros to get a major league pitching coach as LSU has one of the best.

I don't know the guy, but my guess is he wants to be a college head coach long-term and this is a good step back into college at a visible spot. Plus Dolla billz

Yes you did and nobody listened and the downvotes rained down.
Wes is one of the best development guys I’ve ever seen.

You bring up a good point. SEC baseball esp at LSU has to be very appealing to these players. Get a degree, become a better player, wait a few years before you have the stress of professional ball and enjoy the college experience. And now Wes Johnson could coach you ;) On top of that most SEC clubs have a much better set up than the minor leagues now. The SEC is basically becoming a minor league, and now with being able to offer NIL? Fun times in baseball ahead…..

Twins couldn’t match what he was looking to have. He was ready to have a home with his wife and kids instead of being on the Big League schedule.

I bet I know you then. I coached Express with Baxendale. Wes' son Ryan played on our younger team and Wes coached with us a couple yrs. I saw him take DJ from low-mid 80's to low 90'with his throwing program. Great coach but better person. Glad we got him.

I played on the Express 17 premier team with Sammy Hassan as my coach back in HS.

I was back in La. by then. Bax and I actually started Express together when we both lived in Conway. My two youngest sons and his to oldest sons played together for years. I got out and he grew it into quite a baseball club. Wes' throwing program got implemented when his son played on our youngest team. A lot of kids in Ar. benefited from it through the years. I believe it was the Astros throwing program and Wes was one of their regional scouts iirc.

That's awesome. Yep, I remember my first year on the prospect team we would drive up to Conway (I was in LR) to do the throwing program but I can't remember for the life of me the name of it and DJ was always there helping us out.
