Bama has pretty good guards and it seemed like too often they would get matched up on one of LSU’s bigs and drive for a layup or get fouled. I realize it was because of switching, but why switch so much?

Because our switching strategy is what made us the number 1 defense in the country.

Alabama is one of the top 10 offenses in college basketball, averaging over 81 points a game. Holding them to 70 is an unequivocal win. Defense wasn’t our problem last night.

The more you switch it up the more likely you'll get a mismatch that you can take advantage of.

Switching that much makes it much easier to defend against pick and rolls and pick and pops. It also makes it harder for the offense to be able to make quick passes especially to the inside as there really isn't much time that the guys are open, hence the amount of turnovers that we have caused from those quick passes. The problem is that in order to do it you have to have big men that are quick enough to handle switching to the guards. Our big men especially Reid were quick enough for some of our OOC opponents but have been outmatched against SEC guards

Rebounds were our problem and FOuls. We outshot Alabama.

The problem mainly comes when Reid gets isolated on guards, WW has a team who mainly can constantly switch and be ok outside of Reid. They should keep doing that outside of when Reid is in the game , it should be played traditionally when he is involved in the screen, that would cut down on a bunch of fouls also.

Switching solves alot of problems an offense can cause using ball screens and different actions. When you switch everything you basically make it an ISO game and LSU does a good job stunting and helping and then recovering to shooters. We are one of the best defensive teams in the country. Defense isn't our issue. Our lack of consistent shooting with Pinson out there has hurt the last 2 games.

There is no reason to keep switching a big on a little 20 ft out the screen is usually terrible but we switch anyway. Wade needs to stop this other teams are using it every game now.
