The SEC isn’t moving toward canceling its fall football season, according to conversations with sources throughout the conference in the aftermath of reports the Big Ten was on the verge of doing so. The conference, which unveiled its 10-game schedule on Friday, prefers to take a wait-and-see approach.

The SEC purposefully pushed back its fall camp start to Aug. 17 and season opener to Sept. 26 to monitor how the other sports, including the NBA and MLB, were handling playing games amid the COVID-19 pandemic. That hasn’t changed. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey has done a good job of encouraging the league’s 14 presidents and chancellors

Big 12 isn't making their decision either

It’s just a matter of time man

It might not be cancelled tomorrow or on a month or two but it will eventually be cancelled

People that are unhappy want to bring everyone else down with them.

These people abort babies. These are miserablE scumbags.

Find a new hobby for the next few years...this isn’t going away anytime soon. Prepare to wear your mask for a few years

That isn't exactly holding firm it's just waiting to see what everybody else does then doing the same thing.

Well a sinus infection is about to cancel fall sports

It already cancelled spring sports

Wear your mask though. Do not go to church. You can tear down statues and burn down buildings though.

But the NBA, MLB, and eventually NFL can figure it out? This sounds like a bunch of academia posturing. If the SEC and ACC stand firm, it'll happen. Just gotta get the players to vocally rally big time.

That’s my point! The country has been hooked dead in the mouth by the media to believe that this virus is a death sentence. My whole family has had , and at least 12 other close friends have had it. We all agree that it was nothing worse than a cold. Before anyone chirps in that old people die from it, if you are old and have the flu then get pneumonia there is a good chance they don’t survive. Shutting the country down over something this weak is beyond crazy! I never thought that I would see so many people fall in line like this .

The sec should hold strong, play and it elevates everyone in the conference even more.

Not transfers due to scholarships limits, but will more likely help in recruiting the next few years

It would be a shame if high school football moves forward but college can't get their shite together.

So the SEC might possibly be one of the only conferences to play in the fall. If that happens and Bama wins the conference, they will get to claim another paper natty like all those others.

If the SEC ACC and Big 12 hold strong they can likely negotiate even better TV deals this season.

Maybe, but it doesn't have to be. The NBA model is working so far. What does that entail? Keeping the vast majority of regular students virtual through the first semester to provide some type of bubble for the athletes. They just need to have the will to do it.

This is as much of an "American" issue as it is a sports issue. We have to find a way to "thread the needle" because there's no guarantee the "promising" vaccines would be approved or the number of people that need to take it would.

Best case scenario would be this:
1. Big 10 postpones their season thinking everyone else is going to follow their lead
2. No one else does
3. Playoffs happen with two SEC schools
4. Ohio State players all transfer
5. A&M loses all ten games

No, you would keep the athletes virtual.

Players that opted out don’t count against this years numbers.

I know, but teams might have a easier time recruiting that hot shot high school kid who was leaning towards a Big 10 team.

Use the "Hey, our conference kept playing" approach
