I will be ecstatic if we even make the tourney based on the state the program was in when Wade arrived. I was just hoping for a competitive team this season. He has been extremely impressive so far, can't wait to see how that translates on the court.

This pretty much sums it up, if we're even competitive in the SEC I'm happy, if we make the NCAAT I'm thrilled, and if we win a game or two I'll be over the moon.

I realize he hasn't coached a game yet, but he's probably my favorite coach on campus right now

I would consider it a very successful season if we win at least one or two games in the tourney.

of course.

but please, for the love of God, let's pump the brakes.

20 wins and .500 or better in conference play would be a huge improvement. Some years that will get you on the tourney bubble and some years it won't, but it's a big step up from where we were last year.

Probably one of the most level-headed, realistic posts you'll read on TD today. I agree completely. Fortunately for Wade, the last coach set a really low bar for him to surpass...which he's done already IMO. The energy level and excitement around the program are higher than they've been in quite some time.

For this upcoming season, I would be delighted if the team is competitive, hard working, and plays with enthusiasm.

8 wins in conference and an NIT run would be successful for season 1.

This. I think we need to pump the brakes just a bit. We can't expect an NCAA bid season 1. I'd be happy with an NIT berth and several wins there.

The SEC as a league is getting tougher with MUCH better coaching than a few years ago and MUCH better recruiting. If Wade can get this team to 9-9 in SEC play, then he will have done a terrific job. There are still some holes in the roster (namely frontcourt depth and outside shooting).

However, unlike Jones, I KNOW Wade's team will defend. He simply won't accept otherwise, and if you defend, you have a shot in every game (home or away).

I know it will draw the ire of many fans on here, but when I hear Wade speak and I can't help but think I'm listing to a more energetic Nick Saban type of coach. That comparison is based upon the fact that Wade will demand all of the "little details" are taken care of...even down to the fact that the team MUST wear LSU issued clothes when they are doing anything basketball related. He knows that if you focus on making sure the all the small details are taken care of, eventually it will add up to big picture success.

There are no empty mantras and sayings (cough, "one team, one hortbeat"). There is simply just a demand for excellence.

Yep. I really don't care about the record. I just want to see a team that plays hard every night and shows improvement from last year.

Easy people, we will be a good team that will beat a few teams we shouldn't and maybe lose a few we shouldn't but one thing is for sure we will be well coached and the kids will play hard and defend we are in for a treat with Will Wade. We should win 18-20 games and maybe get in the NIT. Next year we will be better and get in the tourney. The SEC is a lot better today than it has been in a while, with all the new quality coaches, which has been lacking over the last few years.

I think we'll be similar to 15/16 in terms of W-L (without expectations based on Simmons/Blakeney obviously) We'll win some, lose some, but hopefully show signs of turning the corner. That is definitely a reasonable expectation and I think Wade will deliver.

Let's hope he didn't get his mentoring from Frank Martin...
