Well, something forced Alleman to rush his kick. Probably should have just taken the delay, would still have only been about a 33-yarder.

due to the declined penalty on 3rd down, we got the 25 second play clock instead of the 40 second play clock. So while the penalty didn't cost us yards, it did cost us 15 seconds that we could have run off. It also seemed to catch LSU off guard as Alleman's kick seemed to be rushed in order to beat the expiring play clock.
