Why would Vitello have been such a better hire?

Based on resumes, what makes Vitello better?

And as a side note..Some of y'all really thought we had a chance at Corbin?

He wouldn't have been a better hire. They're both mediocre AF for arguably the top program in college baseball.

So who would have been the best hire for you?

Jay Johnson played for a national championship in his first season at Arizona.

Proven Texas/SEC recruiter and developer.

I don't know about him being better but its hard not to be impressed with him taking a shite Tennessee program to Omaha quickly in his coaching career. His background and what he did while at TCU and Arkansas was very valuable as well.

I would say his turnaround of Tennessee is more impressive than Johnson at Arizona but I guess we will see how this hire plays out down the road.

First seasons aren’t all on the coach who leads the team. It’s impressive but that’s a lot that happened that had nothing to do with him.

It’s much harder to win at Tennessee than Arizona.

Tony’s recruiting track record is insane.

Jay is barely above .500 in the pac 12 with 1 really good year and another Omaha trip.

This was a mediocre hire and A&M got a better guy.

I love this “lol at anyone who thought Corbin”

Where were you with that take last week?

Not living in a fantasy world. It wasn't even worth discussing because it was so fricking ridiculous.

But everyone likes TV bc he brought UT to Omaha in 4 years. Same with Johnson; except he did it also his first season; and the seasons he wasn’t in Omaha he at least made a regional appearance in the tournament. This is TV first season with any post season play and everybody thinks he is a God. His team was loaded with experience and if you noticed TV played pretty much the same 9 the whole season. Rode them to Omaha essentially. Johnson’s team is overall well rounded, not just a core 9. I’m not sure TV even makes a regional next year but I can almost gurantee Johnson would have, he definitely will
Now at lsu. This is a great hire; I’m not sure how anyone can be upset at this hire.

Made a regional in his 2nd season. 3rd season was covid and they were going to make a regional at the very least that year.

If you think TV can recruit check out this guys recruiting history. Back to back no. 1 classes at San freaking Diego. This is the guy who recruited Kris Bryant. So if you say TV is a recruiting genius then you have to say Johnson is a guru bc he is head and shoulders above TV at recruiting. And his history proves it

Didn’t he also win the PAC 12 this season? I mean, 2 trips to Omaha in 5 seasons is good.

Ok my bad. But still covid canceled everybody. So if we give him a regional that year then give one to Johnson too.

Its not just this year that makes TV attractive. He’s done great things at TCU and Arky and then has shown he can build and run a program anywhere at UT.

He was an assistant those years and getting all the credit. Johnson was a head coach though. We’re giving TV credit for something acting like it was all him when he was an assistant.

So are you saying you really thought it was possible to get Corbin?

I don't think I even need to suggest that I'm some sort of know-it-all to know that LSU had zero chance of obtaining Corbin.

Vitello needs more seasoning…..he appears to be a hot head and whines to the umpires too much. I will bet that LSU never, ever considered Vitello from the start. The Arizona guy has more maturity it appears.
