Why would Chase take number 7?

I don’t necessarily have an issue with Chase opting out. I know a few weeks ago he said he really wanted to play. He doesn’t have a ton to gain from staying another year. But why would he take number 7 then opt out? And who do they give 7 to now.

pretty sure this is a recent development

I doubt he thought he would be opting out when he accepted the #7

How about simply just stopping the “tradition” considering it may not mean as much to the players as some might think?

Obviously he changed his mind. He did an interview with Worsham and sounded excited to play. Agents just convinced him otherwise.

Was entertaining offers from agents to see who would advance the most $. If number was high enough he would go.

Because he had every intention of playing this season.

They need to stop listening to the agents. The players who play will raise their stock. If you do not play, your value regresses due to recency bias.

#7 is the best player the way I see it. #18 is the leader. Those two traits don't always necessarily line up. Give #7 to Stingley.

No, it speaks to your character criticizing someone for making his own decisions about his life. It's his business and only his to decide what's best for him and his family. Sorry he didn't stay so you can talk shite to your Bama buddy during football games.

Some fans seem to be far more invested in this jersey number hysteria than players are invested in the program.

If that's the case isn't that agent guilty of tampering?

Good. Let the whole 7 thing die a swift, clean death.
