Why would Bama want to win the west?

When they can make the top 4 without it. You don’t play the extra game , and you still have a shot at the title. LSU will have to beat Bama and GA twice to make it. Someone tell how this is not stacking the deck. Horse shite. Providing we beat MSU this week.

Conference champions should make the playoffs, every one else goes to a bowl. The best team didn't make it? Oh well, sometimes the best team loses the game. It happens in the NFL all the time.

If we were undefeated , we’d be in the same spot.
The travesty is that we play Florida and Georgia cross division and they play mizzou and tennessee.

The idea that the four “best”, or two in 2011, can be determined is absurd.
You take the teams that had the most impressive wins.

This is exactly why I do not invest any emotion into college football anymore. I still support my school and watch every Saturday but once the game is over I move on with my life. Only Bama can have two National Titles and not even win their division.

Only one SEC team is making it this year. Our curb stomping of GA and Florida beating us has ensured that. Win or go to a NY6 bowl ( way worse things) from here on out for GA, FL, LSU, KY and Bama.

I think they get left out in that scenario. Send Alabama a message to schedule tougher teams. Make college football interesting again.

Bama gets to rest up before CFP and not get banged up in SEC title game. The committee will let Bama in if they go 11-1 and don't win the West, even though they will have played only two teams (aTm and LSU) that weren't patsies. By the rules Bama plays under, it's an advantage for them not to win the SEC.

The funny thing about this is how little outrage there was about both times Bama got handed an EASIER path to a national championship game because they didn't win their division. All of college football is just resigned to the fact that they will always pass the almighty eye test.

I said this in another thread, but no LSU fan should be shocked if this happens:
LSU beats Bama with Tua injured and wins the SEC.
Tua comes back healthy and Bama destroys AU finishing 11-1.
They playoff committee selects Bama and leaves 12-1 SEC champ LSU out.
Their reasoning is that Bama didn’t have Tua vs LSU and they think with him Bama is the better team.

If Bama is the only SEC team in the playoffs and they don't even win the division then I give up. What's even the point of having conference championship games and divisions? Such a fricked up system that I don't believe LSU would benefit the same from if we were in a similar position.

If Ohio State, Clemson, and Notre Dame all remain undefeated then they are all in 100%. SEC Champ would be the other. If that’s 1 loss LSU, Georgia, or Florida then Bama is left out

I believe in a Bama bias as much as the next guy but this would not happen.
Bama could certainly get in alongside LSU in that scenario but they wouldn't replace LSU.
The real travesty is the basis of the OP. LSU playing for and losing a close rematch with Florida or UGA and Bama going to the playoffs after resting at home, again.
