I get Slaughter playing first for defensive purposes, but struggling to find a reason why Coomes doesn't DH over Beau?

Maybe I am missing something here?

What you are missing is the tons of threads already made talking about this.

Only possible reason I can think of is CPM trusts him more with hit & runs...the book is out on both with sliders low and away

Slaughter has hit a 3 run bomb in Omaha.

Just sayin.

b/c if you need to replace Slaughter on 1st base (injury, suckage, whatever)... you would then kill the DH by putting Coomes on 1st and force the pitcher(s) to hit

Would you really trust Coomes to lay down those HUGE RBI bunts??

Jordan does the little things better than anybody else. Thats why he is in there, because nobody on that bench had made the case where we MUST get their bat in the game.

No issue with Slaughter in lineup. It's about the DH spot.

That makes some sense. Didn't Romero play some first last year?

Jordan is clutch in designated bunt slot.

this late... you're not putting someone on base defensively who hasn't played that position regularly in a year-plus

I have a good feeling coomes would have fricked up both of those important bunting situations pretty bad over the last two games...

If it came down to that I'm sure Woley could play first

as I said in another thread where someone suggested Romero play 1st in that situation

CPM's not going to put someone there this late in the season that hasn't played the position regularly in a year or more
