Looks like every team in the nation is running their passing offense except for the team thats known for not having a passing offense.

What's to hide about being able to complete 18 to 22 passes a game? Most Tiger fans keep repeating "LSU don't want to show too much" it does not make sense.

LSU should want to show the college football world they can sling it. Hell that's more for opponents to prepare for. It has nothing to do with linemen it's totally scheme. LSU is about to ruin a SEC championship caliber Qb and I feel bad for him.

Tiger Rant you can pass the ball well or you can't. LSU CANNOT pass the ball well. THE END #GeauxTigers

We have a TE coach coaching QB’s and calling plays, who was here during the years our offense wasn’t throwing the ball. He coached TE’s and they were hardly involved in the little amount of passing we did have. So I’m not sure what to make of it. Before that the last good QB to be developed by one of our coaches and not someone else’s was whenever Jimbo was here.

for the we played conservatives types, we didn’t want to show anything types, or the we haven’t even opened up the playbook types. Riddle me this: why are we the only team who does this?

Here's how our peers fared against similar competition and how their offense looked:

Auburn vs Alabama St : 63-9. 567 total yards of total offense.
Texas A&M vs NorthWestern LA: 59-7. 758 total yards of offense.
Alabama vs Arkansas St: 57-7. 599 total yards of offense.
Florida vs Charlston Southern. 53-6. 446 total yards of offense.
Georgia vs Austin Peay: 45-0. 508 total yards of offense.

LSU vs SELA: 35-0. 335 total yards of offense

I'm sure LSU would have expanded the playbook against Miami if they had to. There was no need to do so nor was there a need to do so against SLU. Winning championships is a chess match. How long have you followed football? Did you ever wonder to yourself why coaches have closed practices?

The last 5 games of 2016 showed me Ensminger CAN call a good offensive game.

What we've seen these 1st 2 games is a head-scratcher & very frustrating

You thought that Alabama game involved a good offense?

I never really questioned his play calling. I thought the question would be his ability to build and offense and implement it into a championship caliber unit. It's very early, but the returns have been average at best. If we don't see something more imaginative this coming Saturday, it will time to get concerned IMO.

Well, it also helps when you have two RB's you can just turn and hand the ball to in order to get you huge chunks of yards (like LSU did vs. Ole Miss and Ark.) LSU could still be playing the Alabama game from that season and not have scored a point.

In fairness though, LSU did perform well vs. Florida (until the shot themselves in the foot inside the 10 over and over) and A&M.

The pessimist says: This IS LSU's offense. O said they aren't holding anything back...so this is the best they have.

The optimist says: There was more available for the Miami game, but going up by 30 early in the 2nd half put the clamps on. Vs. SLU, LSU was purposely vanilla while also taking things slow with a QB starting only his second game.

My thought is that the truth lies somewhere in between. I fully believe there is more to this offense. I think Burrow has earned trust. He's accurate and generally a good decision maker when he puts the ball in the air. There hasn't been one pass that was horribly off target or in real danger of being picked. But the time for excuses and easing into the deep end is OVER. It's balls to the wall now.

This is exactly right. You use the rent a wins to work out the kinks in your Offense. LSU's O-Line isn't very good and that is the cold hard truth of the matter, like it or not. Those claiming any different have their heads in the sand.

When you had Canada and Jimbo Fisher as OCs it was not much different. I remember a lot of posts here saying LSU's offensive problem was Jimbo Fisher and they wanted to replace him.

Sure they can. But you gotta have time to throw it and the coaches don’t have confidence that we can. If they block, you’ll see the passing game open up. We have several receivers. None are great yet but there is depth.

Yeah. like Burrow is throwing the ball into the dirt to "trick" Auburn.

not always with Jimbo.

Matt Flynn threw 3 TDs in 4th qtr as a backup against North texas (i think) up big one year.

also pushed Miss st around like that too around same time frame.

Other teams must have 1000s of secret playbooks. Too bad LSU has never been in a situation where the secret playbook was needed in a game.
