Why isn’t the running back position being discussed more?

Obviously on here we discuss it, but all we hear about from local writers is the qb position. I can honestly say I am more worried about the RB position. We need someone to step up and that’s definitely possible, but I’d be surprised if we have one guy that becomes a 20+ carry guy.

That’s because we likely won’t. Hence the emphasis on QB

We don't need a 20+ carry guy and have been spoiled if you think that is a requirement. We'll have a RB by committee approach where CEH gets 10-13 carries a game, Curry gets another 7-9, Provens gets 2-3, and NB gets 2-3.

RB is the easiest position in the game for a kid to come out of HS and step in at the college level. The more important part is that the OL opens holes for them to run through.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted so much. All of this is true.

I am honestly not worried about it. Prior to Hill, Fournette, and Guice LSU was by committee for awhile. When I was a freshman in 03 Shyrone Carey was big in the UGA game and by the end of the year Vincent was there too with Broussard. In 07 Hester, Scott, Murphy, Williams, etc. If the offense is truly balanced utilizing wr, te, rb we will be fine.

I think it's a huge deal. It's been awhile since we didn't have at least the running game to lean on, going into the season. Last time both positions were so uncertain was... 2008. And we know what happened then.

Hopefully QB is better than Lee/Hatch.

CEH and Curry will hopefully be enough

Throw in Provens on 3rd and longs coming out of the backfield

Ive seen enough of Brossette over the years to not be impressed at all

Because the RB position is far less important than the QB position. Having a superstar RB is not even remotely as good as having a superstar QB. ( See Leonard Fournettes seasons at LSU.)

Las Miles squandered the very best rb talent LSU has ever seen with his hs level offensive understanding. We begged for an innovative passing game for Les Miles to trot out his low iq pets for quarterback. Alan Risher, Jeff Wickersham, Tommy Hodson would have had LSU a couple more national titles with the talent LSU had running through this program.

Our running game will be more than fine. Don't listen to the "run, and tell its" star gazers.

Everything you said is true but there is a reason most people don't have much confidence in our offense becoming a strength under the current regime.

We are going to find out pretty early in the season whether we have a really fricking good front 7 or a really shitty offensive line. Our running backs avg 2-3 yards a carry against our own defense. So we are A really stout up front on Defense or B our O line is bad at run and pass blocking.

To beat top tier SEC defenses a more balanced attack is needed.Obviously being able to run the ball is important but there has to be legit threats from other options
