re: Why isn't Jeremy Hill getting the ball more??

Hill is frustrating to watch sometimes because he goes down so easily.
As of October 18 which is the most recent data I can find on the matter, Jeremy Hill is third in the league in yards after contact.
Also of interest from November 22:
quote:
LSU running back Jeremy Hill averages an SEC-high 8.0 yards per carry on rushes between the tackles (min. 50 carries).

McGee hits the hole before it closes- quick first steps

LSU avgs 34 rushes per game, Hill accounts for 15.5 of those.
And he's been injury free and Magee was just named SEC player of the week. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, just explaining the logic how I see it.

Very small/nebulous comment that really close to the truth. Look, I'm a huge Hill fan. I think he's the best back we've had since Faulk. But Magee is running with an absolute mean streak right now, and he's being rewarded for it. It's by no means a slight to Hill IMHO, just a reward for Magee running w/max effort every time he gets the ball.

I didn't start the thread. I just agree that Les' handling of the running backs has cost us games in the past, and he doesn't learn from his mistakes.
But it didn't cost THIS game you fool.

quote:And if Hill is the best player, then you are getting what you want, right? He is getting the most carries on the team, BY FAR. More than twice as many as the next closest ball carrier.
I believe the best player should get the most carries by far.

How about, give me 300 yards rushing in any conceivable permutation of runners and carries and I'll be happy. I don't care how they are amassed so much that they are in fact amassed.

Why are you so short-sighted?
You are right, we won Saturday,
But sitting Hill on the sidelines could cost us ANOTHER game. You know, like Clemson. Hill is gone after this year, we should use him while we have him.

Didn't feel like reading 7 pages.
Simple answer = Magee has more YPC than Hill. He's more effective. Pretty straightforward.

I reject your conclusion that sitting Hill "cost" LSU the Clemson game.

So, in so many words, you're basically saying that you think Miles mishandled the personnel on Saturday? Am I off here?
And you think we should use him just for the sake of using him? Nevermind the fact that we also had the SEC player of the week in our backfield.

I would think Cam Cameron helps running back recruiting in that every place he's ever been running backs have put up ridiculous numbers. After that many years it isn't just an accident. Baltimore's running game is horrid this year.

Hill's hypothetical carries would have been much more effective. Can't you see it you FOOL!?!

I guess we won't know that until we see the first recruiting class he will have helped recruit.

not only that, he's saying that we're fortunate that it didn't cost LSU the game.

calm down francis.
It was TxAM defense.

That's the least appropriate "calm down francis [sic]" I've ever seen. The quoted material clearly didn't warrant that. He disagreed with you with a pretty level-headed response and your response was "calm down." That can only mean that "calm down" means agree with me.

Hill had two second half carries Saturday. 16 yards and 9 yards. He wasn't even on the field but for maybe 5 plays the entire second half. For anyone that watched the game, it was obvious that you and I could have rushed for 4 yards a play against A&M in the second half. The true SEC player of the week is LSU's offensive line.
Magee had a great day, that's awesome, I pull for all Tigers. But when Les continues to not feed his offensive playmakers, they get tired of it and leave early. Anybody that followed the Reuben Randle saga knows this.

What's your point? How does this in any way lend credence to your arguments? We had a great game plan and beat the frick out of a top 10 team. But by all means, let's make some hypothetical as to how the gameplan and Miles' decisions could have been better and ignore the 24-point win.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin with this monstrosity.

Yeah, this one game (where Hill still had more carries than anyone) is why he's leaving early. Nailed it.
