to study game film? I keep reading upperclassmen saying "we got to get them to watch game film". Lack of coaching, discipline, motivation?

O said it in his short presser yesterday. Something along the lines of how they were limited on watching film and guys aren't watching additional footage in their rooms like they should.

Basically just throwing more players under the bus.

Orgeron is passing the buck. What college kid is going to watch film on their own if no one is there supervising them?

Yeah there are football nerds that will but most of the team will go shoot the breeze instead, like normal college students do.

You have to teach people to be professionals, not assume they'll simply learn it on their own.

Meh, I hate o as much as anyone. But the NCAA has pretty tight restrictions.

The Rosy Finch Boyz don't need any film study. Just hope and pray.

Yep. But the NCAA won't stop players from watching game film on their own time. If I saw my team doing poorly, I'd be putting in extra time on my own. But then again, if they have no motivation from the staff, other than negative motivation, then what's the point.

There's a limit on the number of hours they're allowed to spend on organized football activities, and that includes film study. And additional film study has to be done on their own.

Well there is an element of player accountability here.

O has done an overall shitty job, but I can't place this all on him. Sounds like some players lack dedication, likely due to poor leadership by both coaches AND players.

Then sit there asses on the bench. You don't watch film, you don't play.

It's about accountability. I don't think O is holding the guys accountable like he should. If a player needs to watch more film after the max hours allowed by regulations then he (or the appropriate coordinator) need to have that talk with him. Then follow up.

I feel like that's one of the biggest issues with O. He is a player's buddy more than his coach and it's hurting them team overall. That and blaming everyone he can think of for problems that are on him. Typical O presser is "i am responsible for this, but (insert position, staff, player name) isn't doing their job." They're hard to watch.

It is mandatory by all teams, but
only so many hours can be dedicated to the "sport".
If they do not get it in those hours, it is up to the player to put in the time....they need to care.

I teach college and so many just want to do "just enough"... that's what they are use to ... that is the culture that needs to change.

Coaches can not demand more time, all they can do is sit and keep from playing those who do not learn it....that's a double edge sword sometimes.

I agree

You have to also understand that the coach better be damn careful with public statement concerning what could perceived as a requirement for mandated film time

Sounds like O is just throwing his entire team under the bus now. What recruit will wants to come to LSU?? I really think someone on the LSU BOS who objected to this hire needs to look over every inch of the contract to see if the school can find cause.

Good constructive criticism.
He has gone from being a BROTHER to being a PARENT
Two totally different situations

I don't know how to interpret this other than it being a coaching/teaching failure.

Whatever film study is necessary for the objective needs to be under supervision.

I refuse to believe that teams like Bama are full of football nerds and our guys are a bunch of lazy turds.

As soon as someone teaches Ogeron then he can maybe teach others.

He got to feel all the hugs and kisses as the interim when he was able to win all the games (he was supposed to win) with a loaded 2016 team. He's now feeling how heavy it is to wear the crown and he's cracking every time a microphone is put in front of him. The media knows it and they are going to up the pressure.

I genuinely believe the over/under should be set at 3 more losses before Ogeron completely loses it, reverts back to his natural coonass state and challenges fans to a fight at some bar in Golden Meadow. It's coming!

We are all creatures of habit and coaches are for the most part 2x times that. The last coach stuck to the same script, repetition was their teacher right or wrong, green or experienced. When we had a mature team they had no legs in November. O has an inexperienced group with freshman and first time starters with a new offensive system that should have required more reps than film study.
What I’m saying is basically most coaches aren’t as smart as u give them credit for, they learn from experience and try to repeat it in all circumstances and at times it fitting a square peg in a round hole.
