As a DL coach, caveman is a great recruiter. As a head coach, he's a liability. Don't kid yourselves. He's being negatively recruited against like few others could be and there's not much in the way of facts that anyone can say to dispute it. Don't think that hasn't played a big part in losing some kids

Oh yeah? Like barely having enough cornerbacks to field a fricking nickel defense?

QB... uh oh

RB... uh oh

CB... uh oh

Kind of unbelievable actually IMO. Especially considering that 2 of those 3 are without question the most important positions on the field.

LSU does recruit itself.

Just not with a head coach that the entire country is laughing at.

I am not that upset about the recruiting class, honestly I would have been fine had we landed Goodrich and then surtain shafted us. Not taking him did piss me off considering the gamble that was and we got burnt.

If you think about it LSU did recruit itself. O was handing out schollies like candy and players were jumping on commiting. If O would have waited it out we would have gotten Players like Harold Joiner, Mario Goodrich, Justin Watkins and been hiring ranked.

The worst coach in the SEC - shite one of the worst coaches in SEC history - still managed to pull a top 25 class.

A top 25 class in the SEC is in the bottom half of the SEC. A top 25 class may make you one of the 25 most talented teams in the country but it won't ever win you the SEC. You need top 10 classes to do that.

Tell us wise guy how many recruits signed with LSU that were out of the top 250. Then tell is how many NFL players that are currently in the league that did not sniff the top 500. Recruiting rankings are shite.

Does any coach at LSU have a built in recruiting advantage over most other schools? Sure, it’s the only flagship school in a talent rich state.

Will some coaches at LSU nevertheless recruit better than others? Absolutely. LSU had terrible classes under Hallman. Les Miles was an excellent recruiter. The whole LSU recruits itself theory was partly advanced to diminish the credit to Miles for recruiting success and ignore the possibilty that a successor to Miles might not recruit as well.

This is not to argue there were not valid reasons to let Miles go relates to his coaching. It is to argue that some who wanted him gone underestimated how good a recruiter he was or over stated the theory that just anyone can come to LSU and regularly get top 5 and top 10 classes

I'm not sure what argument you are trying to make. Assuming LSU does "recruit itself" wouldn't the fact that LSU just brought in its worst recruiting class in over a decade suggest that Orgeron is a below average to bad recruiter?

Either LSU recruits itself, which would mean that O actually is a negative influence on recruiting, or Saban and Miles were more effective recruiters than O, right?

So, if O brings nothing strategically, can't manage his coaches or his roster and cannot recruit, what does he bring? Why is he making several million dollars a year to coach at LSU?

Haroldnjoiner and Goodrich have done nothing
