OK Lawrence was out and then E Alexander got hurt, but that does not answer why Fitzgerald was torching the zone throughout the game and suckering the DB's on long pass plays that even Jordan Jefferson could complete

WE can blame Etling a little, but when your defense has no ability o stop the opposing offense, then the pressure on your offense is too great....you go one dimensional . You don't dare run being down by 17 at the half and MSU getting the ball on the 2nd half kick off and then scoring on that drive. I watched LB's and DB's blow their assignments all night on Fitzgerald and Williams....no way Williams should be able to bounce it outside given this team's overall speed.

Also....get a hold of discipline on both sides of the ball. The ejections need to be avoided. Referees are looking for that shite right now.

Is he?

ETA: Having said that, in no way do I think he's unfit for his job. Feel I should clarify that.

The defense had a bad game.

But Aranda is a proven commodity with multiple years worth of top 10 defenses

0 is a proven commodity of losing, and Canada is a proven commodity with an average offensive ranking around 45 I beleive

When you are a proven winner, people excuse bad games because everyone has bad games. Even saban and meyer

When you are a proven loser or average, people dont excuse it because they see it as a sign of more to come

It is pretty simple

Who's giving Aranda a pass? Aranda deserves criticism but the majority of the blame goes to the head man. That's the way it works and has always worked.

He's not. His honeymoon is over. He needs to give back about half of that monster salary he's making.

Because we allowed 16 touchdowns last year which lead the country?

He's still a great coach

People still can't see how young this team is and how most of our returning players aren't that good

But hey, it's coaching!!!

LSU fans are dumb

I'm not giving him a pass. Do I think he's a great coach, yes. However he didn't have those boys ready to play. They were completely confused where they should line up much less cover.

Well he deserves a pass considering the youth on def and playing Fitzgerald the SECPOTY and closet thing we've seen to cam newton since then

For one thing, players after the game said they were prepared and knew what MSU would do, just couldn't stop it.

Lots of freshman/young player mistakes, even if some weren't young players.

Depth on the DL will be a season long problem.

All of that, plus an offense going nowhere, meant that Aranda had a tough game to call. Not his best game, but you can see why they struggled.

MSU ran for 285 yards. When that happens, it is more about your players being manhandled than your coaching

I mean, even the players are saying Aranda told them exactly what to do:

quote:

And linebacker Devin White? Well, White was a little more to the point.

“I feel like we gave them a lot with the penalties,” White said. “I also feel like we were undisciplined. The stuff they beat us with, Coach [Dave] Aranda went over it time after time this week. We were prepared for it. I think a lot of the guys got in the moment, including me as well, and I just don’t think we were disciplined.”

Its hard to question him because the guy clearly knows what he is doing. The proof is in his resume....

That being said, I don't know why we continued to play back so much against them. Especially when we had gotten down 14 or so. Bring a safety down to play in the box, man up with all their WRs, if you get beat deep you get beat deep but its better than getting run on all night.

Maybe in style, but this kid is not nearly as good as Cam Newton. We consistently missed on assignments and got blown off the line. He had huge holes and sealed ends all night and showed that he's not a good passer at all.

We start like 5 true freshman and played most of the night with our 8-12th best DL. Not a pass, bit lets have some damned perspective.

He's not getting a pass. It was a bad effort all the way around. But of all the coaches on the staff, Aranda is the most proven and the one we can trust most to correct the mistakes.

But let's look at the facts:

Scheme was not the problem, it was players not playing their assignments, missed tackles and stupid penalties.

At least 3 of States scoring drives were extended due to third down penalties when the D should have gotten off the field.

I won't blame Aranda for that.

When this seasons is over they'll be comparing him to Cam

shite he had as many rush yards as Guice last year as a 1st year starting soph. He's a great player

I don't think he's getting a pass, but his body of work is enough to have us confident that he will straighten everything on his side of the ball out. As much as he can with the personnel he has available.

But hey, it's coaching!!!

Tat's right it is. If you are going to play freshmen coaches need to teach them to stick to there assignment and be where you are supposed to be. all to often that was not the case Sat. night. Undisciplined play is a coaches fault just as much as the players fault.
