Why has our hitting been so bad this weekend?

I'm hoping it was just a situation where we come in way too overconfident and got kicked in the teeth and haven't recovered. We'll see what happens next weekend.

Because you can’t rely on your 1-4 hitters to carry you every game because there are going to be times when they aren’t hitting good. The backend of the lineup has got to get going if we want to be a good team this year

They’re not playing Nichols state or southern. Finally playing a decent team and can’t hit their way out of a wet paper bag.

This. Though honestly all the walks concern me more than the hitting. Bats can just go cold. We'll find out soon enough if this is just a bad weekend or if there are real issues.

How ?? California is 5-4. They suck! So if we dominate them like we did Bryant and Southeastern then we will feel good about ourselves again? Whether we won or lost this weekend more importantly we should be very concerned that we were unable to even compete against Texas.

I like to think weather plays a part. It seems like LSU bats just flounder in early months.

For some reason, Lamar from last year (or year before?) comes to mind.

I'm not even remotely concerned about anything on March 3rd. If you wanna get all up in your feelings about an OOC series in the first weekend in March, be my guest. IMO you're wasting your time.

We are unable to compete with Texas THIS WEEKEND. Does not mean we won’t be a very dominant team down the stretch. Maybe we will, maybe we won’t but some of y’all are calling the fricking season over already. Don’t be stupid.

Fire Javi!

Seriously, hire a damn decent hitting coach finally. Not some former player.

All losses suck but I think this could be good for this team. A humbling experience. Maybe they’ll realize you go out and earn that number one spot

I didn’t call the season over , and I expect us to have a good year . However beating up on Cal next weekend is not gonna make me feel any better about what we have as team THUS FAR

Fair enough.

I am very jealous of Texas discipline at the plate. These guys don’t swing at junk.

It’s a noticeable difference in approach between the 2 teams. We are aggressive, and it causes us to swing at some really bad pitches early in the count. They are patient and they pick out the best pitch of the at bat. Our way has worked pretty well, but I’ve always been a fan of a more patient approach.

Meanwhile, one of our best hitters hits a weak infield groundout on the first pitch.
